US$5 billion remitted from abroad to HCMC in 2018

Overseas Vietnamese last year sent US$5 billion to their relatives and friends in HCMC, Nguyen Thanh Phong, chairman of the city, said yesterday. Over 70% of incoming remittances to the city went to investment and business activities.

Viettel licensed to pilot 5G in major cities

Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung has signed a decision permitting Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group to pilot fifth-generation (5G) mobile service in HCMC and Hanoi for one year starting January 22, VnEconomy reported.

Officials involved in Con Cung case have yet to be disciplined

Four months have passed since the Ministry of Industry and Trade found some officials at the Vietnam Directorate of Market Surveillance making unsubstantiated claims that Con Cung (Beloved Kid), a children’s wear retail store chain, was selling goods of unclear origin. However, no one has been disciplined.
