Former top cops go on trial today in Vu Nhom case

Two former deputy ministers of public security this morning are standing trial for their alleged involvement in the illegal sale of State-owned houses and land in Danang and HCMC as part of a broader probe into jailed property magnate Phan Van Anh Vu, 44, alias Vu Nhom.

Cruise ship offers huge discount for Vietnamese tourists

The U.S.-based cruise line Princess Cruises is offering a huge discount of nearly 25% for Vietnamese tourists who travel on board Sapphire Princess, one of 17 cruise ships operated by the line. The promotion is applicable to a four-night cruise worth only SGD338 (US$249) for two passengers, including all dining and entertaining services on board.

Flowers flow to HCMC before Tet

Flowers are flowing en masse into HCMC ahead of the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday, or Tet, and are being sold at multiple places in HCMC, such as September 23 and Le Van Tam parks in District 1 and Gia Dinh Park in Phu Nhuan District, according to a report in Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper.

Investors rush to develop projects in An Giang’s Chau Doc City

Multiple enterprises have expressed their interest in executing projects in Chau Doc, which is considered a spiritual tourism city of the Mekong Delta province of An Giang, especially since Nui Sam was recognized as a national tourist site, said Chau Doc vice chairman Tran Quoc Tuan.

An Suong-An Lac toll station to suspend collecting fees during Tet

Toll fee collection in HCMC’s An Suong-An Lac toll station will be suspended from 2 p.m. on February 4 to 6 a.m on February 8 (from December 30 to January 4 of the lunar year), Nguyen Hong Ninh, director of IDICO which is the operator of the station, told a press briefing yesterday, Thanh Nien Online reported.
