HCMC – Vietnam Airlines on July 16 warned the public against falling prey to a scam involving fake air tickets being sold to Vietnamese citizens living abroad to travel back home during the global coronavirus pandemic.

Taking advantage of the ongoing global health crisis, some individuals are posing as Vietnam Airlines staff and sending emails to Vietnamese nationals abroad asking them to contact them for repatriation tickets, with the aim of appropriation.

To win the trust of customers, these cheaters are also providing the citizens with complete information about the flights including airfares, departure and arrival time and payment methods, according to the airline.

Apart from this, these individuals are also urging customers to buy tickets as soon as possible before they are sold out.

As such, Vietnam Airlines has advised Vietnamese nationals living abroad not to purchase air tickets from unknown sellers and not to transfer money to private bank accounts.

If they need to return to Vietnam, citizens have been urged to register for repatriation at the Vietnamese embassies or Vietnam’s representative agencies in foreign countries.
