HCMC – Eximbank’s 2021 annual general meeting (AGM) could not take place this morning, April 27, as scheduled, after it failed to secure the required attendance.

As of 9:30 a.m., there were only 61 shareholders representing over 512 million shares or 41.65% of the total shares with voting rights, reported Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper.

Based on the bank’s charter, an AGM can only be held if the shareholders representing at least 65% of the total shares with voting rights attend the meeting. Accordingly, the bank’s 2021 AGM could not take place.

Earlier, the bank also failed to hold its third 2020 AGM, scheduled for April 26, for the same reason.

Due to its failure to hold AGMs so many times, new board members for the new tenure could not be elected and the incumbent board will continue to manage and operate the bank.
