HCMC - Vietnam’s total Covid-19 infections have amounted to 9,505 after 82 new cases were reported in five localities and Bac Giang Province updated 201 cases detected late last month to the national Covid-19 case management system this afternoon, June 9.

All of the 82 new cases were domestic infections reported in areas put on lockdown or practicing social distancing, with 52 in Bac Giang, 20 in HCMC, six in Bac Ninh, three in Ha Tinh and one in Hanoi.

Bac Giang also added a list of 201 cases detected in areas on lockdown in Quang Chau and Tien Son communes and Nenh Town, Viet Yen District from May 27 to 29 to the national Covid-19 surveillance system.

The country has reported 6,328 local infections in 39 cities and provinces in the current fourth Covid-19 wave since April 27. Sixteen cities and provinces have spent 14 days without new cases.

HCMC Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Nen and Deputy Director of the HCMC Department of Health Tang Chi Thuong visited Cho Ray Hospital on June 8.

Nen spoke highly of the efforts of the hospital and its staff in the fight against Covid-19. “After over a week of social distancing, the city has been able to basically ease the spread of the disease,” he said.

However, this outbreak is more complicated than previous ones, with much more cases and patients in critical condition. Nen believed that with their experience and expertise, doctors and nurses at Cho Ray Hospital will help Covid-19 patients in critical condition recover soon.

Nguyen Tri Thuc, director of Cho Ray Hospital, said the hospital will continue to collaborate closely with the Department of Health to take care of the citizens’ health and safety and treat Covid-19 patients.

In the north-central province of Ha Tinh, the provincial general hospital has been reopened after all doctors, health workers, employees, patients and their caregivers tested negative for Covid-19 this morning. The entire hospital has also been disinfected.

The hospital was shut down on June 8 after a worker was found infected with Covid-19.
